No 3.10... Egyptian Donkey Ride Salesman Study 3 Figurative |
Painted on 24th January 2002 Acrylic on Plywood Size H48in x W36in H122cm x W91.5cm Price £2400 or $3500 Self Framed This is the last in the series of the Egyptian Donkey Ride Salesman. I was fascinated by this man because on the face of it, he is ugly, his teeth are decayed and he is deeply lined. On closer inspection, he has a warm generous smile, he is very clean in spite of working in the dusty desert terrain around the pyramids with his donkey. Note the laundry number on his head dress (No 83) and whilst his tunic is worn it is spotless. His mild manner disguised a close scrutiny of me. I have grown to like him during my study of him over the last two years. Interesting is the fact that he is wearing a polar neck jersey in a temperature which was in the region of 25 degrees C but it was winter at the time in Egypt
